Create a tour poster using your own traditional illustration and turn it into a digital piece.
DESCRIPTION
I used my favorite metal band. I looked up where they got their name from and learned they got it from a book called Cats Cradle. In the book there's a substance called "ice nine" which then turned into "Ice Nine Kills." To play compliment their name, I decided to have the main subject of the poster be monster hands playing the string game, "Cats Cradle."
I started with illustration board and used colored pencils to illustrate the hands, and then I glued string between the fingers. I photographed it and imported the image into Adobe Photoshop to add color correcting, and texture. I looked for a typeface as close to the band's logo for the tour title and a sans serif for the body copy. The title typeface is Ringbearer and the body copy typeface is Futura.
